Diagnostics:
Radiography
Radiography is a very important diagnostic aid for a number of problems
including but not limited to fractures, heart and lung conditions, intestinal
disorders, spinal problems and lameness. For field work we have a portable
x-ray machine that is easily handled.
Ultrasound
Ultrasonography is a diagnostic tool in which soft tissues are examined
utilizing sound waves. Ultrasound plays a large role in veterinary medicine.
Ultrasound allows us to image anything from very superficial soft tissue
structures like tendons to deeper organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys,
or spleen. We like to use ultrasound to check for pregnancy in mares as
early as 18 days.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a diagnostic tool that allows veterinarians to examine some
body cavities that are inaccessible otherwise. This includes the nasal
passages, pharynx and larynx (interior throatlatch region), the trachea
(windpipe), esophagus (passage to the stomach). This tool allows us to
diagnose many different conditions, including: Entrapped epiglottis; Laryngeal
hemiplegia (roaring); Uterine cysts; Sinus problems, etc.
Laboratory Testing
We use a combination
of in house equipment and outside laboratories for evaluation of samples
taken from each patient.
